Deep Dark Chocolate Brownies

Deep Dark Chocolate Brownies

Bittersweet chocolate, used primarily for baking, contains at least 35% chocolate liquor. That means these brownies are rich, dark, dense, and melt-in-your-mouth good!

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz. bittersweet chocolate, broken into pieces
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons powdered instant coffee
  • 1-1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped nuts

Directions:

Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 13x9x2-inch baking pan.

Place chocolate and butter in medium saucepan; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until melted. Remove from heat; stir in eggs, vanilla and instant coffee until well blended. Add sugar, flour, baking soda, salt and nuts. Stir until well blended. Spread batter in prepared pan.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out almost clean. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into squares.

Makes about 36 brownies.
